This kit aims to help the students understand the base of the structure of the periodic table. They will rebuild it using identity cards one for each element. The students will prepare the cards themselves using blank templates and a table which has the needed information. The table does not show the number of electrons in the last orbit, and the students will figure it out when they fill in the card.
The instructions for filling the card are provided as an image in the presentation.
Use the following instructions to direct them to arrange these cards after they are ready:
Finally provide them with a resource to look for the properties of the different elements to fill in last column in the table.
They can go back to the card and add some information concerning the position of each element in the periodic table and the properties of it. These cards can be used as revision flash cards later on.

Use the following instructions to direct them to arrange these cards after they are ready:
- Arrange the cards in order, i.e from the one with the lowest atomic number to the biggest.
- Look for a repeating pattern ( here you can give them some time to look and discuss before you guide them to look at the number of the electrons in the outer orbit)
- Can we split this long row into shorter ones based on this pattern?
Finally provide them with a resource to look for the properties of the different elements to fill in last column in the table.
